Shit at Roadburn 2016 just got dirtier. The reason for this lies exclusively in the fact that the Cleveland-based black/speed metal entity by the name of Midnight has just been added to next year’s line-up. Last year we got our dose of crushing, no bullshit heavy metal through Goatwhore, this time around it seems the authors of last year’s “No Mercy For Mayhem” to take care of that. Midnight will play on Friday on the 013 venue.
Wrap your head around this: there are going to be four shows at next year’s Roadburn evolving either Scott Kelly or Steve Von Till. Before the headlining duo of Neurosis performances on Saturday and Sunday, the always lovely Het Patronaat will receive both frontmen for two solo concerts. While Scott Kelly‘s last full length “The Wake” dates back to 2008, he hasn’t exactly been quiet during this time, releasing “The Forgiven Ghost In Me” and “Eternal” with The Road Home of Greg Dale and Noah Landis, as well as splits with both Wino and Nate Hall, and the “Songs Of Townes Van Zandt” LP with Wino and Von Till. Steve Von Till on the other hand had only released solo work with his Harvestman moniker since “Grave Is a Grim Horse” also from 2008, that is until this year’s beautiful “A Life Unto Itself”, about which we recently had the privilege of speaking with him.
Other new confirmations include Kenn Nardi, with the guitarist/vocalist of the seminal progressive thrash outfit Anacrusis scheduled to play a mixed set between his old band and his solo work of which he just released his debut “Dancing With The Past” last year. Besides the North-American, also confirmed are Jakob, Kontinuum, Ecstatic Vision, and Black Moon Circle.
Recall Roadburn takes place in Tilburg between the 14th and the 17th of April and tickets are already on sale, with apparently not a lot of four-day tickets remaining. Check the festival website ticket section for more information.
