Looking at that poster, it’s hard to even know where to start to look. Such is the nature of the beast, in this case the Le Guess Who?festival, which every year brings to the dutch town of Utrecht a vast array of artists and genres distributed among more than a dozen venues. The final announcements of the line-up were done today and amount to 55 new acts, which thus join an already impressible ensemble of bands including Deerhunter, Faust, GoatsnakeMagma, Om, Sunn O))) and Today Is The Day among many many others.

The Sunn O))) curated part of the festival has been completed in the expected way, with a bang. In this case taking the shape of the well-oiled Swiss war-machine by the name of Bölzer and by Norwegian pioneers of avant-garde metal Virus (and if their show at this year’s Roadburn is anything to go by, Le Guess Who?goers are in for a treat). Joining these two acts are a performance by Icelandic cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir of Throbbing Gristle fame and a reading/performance by John Doran, one of the founders ofThe Quietus.

As for the rest of the confirmations, they range from the kraut infused post-rock of The Notwist and a solo performance of Bob Forrest, an appearance by Canadian ambient/drone outfitthisquietarmy and three Dutch names bound to please those interested in “not that traditional” black metal, namely Gnaw Their Tongues, Laster, and Terzij De Horde, with the latter using the show to present their new record “Self”.

Recall the 2015 edition of the Le Guess Who? takes place in Utrecht between the 19 and 22nd of November, with tickets available at the festival’s website.
